Department of Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir

Imagine carving fresh lines through dry “curry” powder, endless terrain, and breath-taking scenery. After floating down the mountain, you sit at the end of your run, take in a breath of fresh mountain air, and listen to the sound of the approaching helicopter in the distance. This is the moment you have been waiting for ever since your first taste of powder and now is the time to check it off your bucket list. Heli skiing anywhere in the world is fabulous, but heli skiing in  Kashmir is particularly spicy!

India is home to more than one billion people and is the 2nd most populous country in the world. But high up in the Himalayas in the Kashmir region, crowds are definitely not a problem. In this part of the world you have to share the mountains, the vast backcountry and all that powder with a small group of people.

Heli skiing in Gulmarg usually takes on a top of Sunshine peak where one can ski down to Drang. Skiers in Gulmarg have more options like tree skiing in Gulmarg & off piste skiing in Gulmarg which goes down from Gulmarg to Baba Rishi. This option is usually used by skiers when the Gondola is closed due to bad weather of Electricity failure.

In Kashmir, you'll not only get the awesome heli skiing experience, but you'll also get to experience the intrigue of India which is an added bonus for your ski holiday. It’s a land of contrast with an interesting culture. To experience the local people and their obsession with cricket and Bollywood is inimitable. India has lots of spice bazaars in the cities, but up in the mountains it’s more a case of “spicy”.
