With the Gulmarg resort experiencing heavy snowfall in the last few days, the skiing activities have begun. While the lifts in Gulmarg bowl are ideal for basic/intermediate training courses and casual skiing for fun, the more experienced and daring skiers can ski down from the higher mountain reaches of Kongdori/Apharwat.

Kongdori (approx.. 10500 ft) is the mid-station of Gulmarg Gondola Lift, while Apharwat (approx.. 13500 ft)is the top-station.

A chairlift also takes skiers from Kongdori to Mary Shoulder Point which is almost halfway upto the top-station.
Skiers using the Gondola lift and Chairlift for skiing must adhere to the instructions/advisories issued by the Ski Patrol Team and must know that no patrol services or avalanche control take place outside the ski area boundary. Further beacon, shovel and probe are mandatory for all skiers and riders accessing phase II of the Gondola lift.
